“Dash cam saved me a lot of money!” Hit-and-run #CaughtOnBlackVue

In most hit-and-run cases, having a dash cam footage is enough to ensure a smooth insurance claim process, at least. But sometimes it’s not that easy – a dash cam can still play an instrumental role, though!

They just left…

BlackVue user Dawn too her grandson to Hungry Jack’s (Australian fast food chain). While they were inside, a pick up truck backed into Dawn’s car. The driver didn’t check what the damage was, nor did they leave a note with their contact information for Dawn. They simply drove away.

…but the dash cam was recording

Upon returning to the car, Dawn noticed that an impact was detected by her BlackVue dash cam in Parking Mode. She checked the footage and saw the incident. She then promptly sent the footage to the insurance company, which… didn’t accept the claim. Dawn reported the accident to the police and after a few weeks, the culprit was found. He tried to claim that he wasn’t even in the area at the time of the incident, but police confronted him with the footage and charged with hit-and-run. Dawn then got her excess back from her insurance company and has it on record that she was not at fault.

“Dash cams saved me a lot of money!” Dawn told BlackVue.
