Updating Firmware (and Fixing Update Errors)
Two ways to update
A. Over the air (FOTA, via the app)
- Keep your phone on the camera's Wi-Fi for the whole download — don't let it switch back to cellular or another network.
- Keep the engine running for stable power. Never update with the car off unless connected to a BlackVue battery pack — a voltage drop mid-update can interrupt the process.
B. Via microSD card (manual method)
- Download the firmware for your exact model from https://blackvue.com/pages/firmware-download.
- Format the SD card first to FAT32 (or use the BlackVue Viewer's format tool) so no old files interfere.
- Unzip on your computer and copy the entire "BlackVue" folder to the root of the SD card — the camera won't see the files if they are loose or inside another folder.
- Insert the card and power on; the camera updates automatically.
"Dashcam Model Error" after an update means the firmware on the card doesn't match the hardware model (e.g., DR750X firmware on a DR750X Plus). Double-check the silver sticker on your camera for the exact model name.
