This BlackVue dash cam user’s car was damaged while parked – and if not for his dash cam, he would have never learned how it happened. We recently published an article that lists realistic tips helping drivers to catch hit-and-run accident culprits. This week’s #CaughtOnBlackVue video is a perfect example how a hit-and-runner can be identified thanks to dash cam footage.
Truck rear-ends a parked car
The car of this anonymous BlackVue user was parked on the side of a road. A big truck tried to park behind, but the driver didn’t check properly and hit the BlackVue user’s car, completely shattering the rear windscreen glass. In the accident the trunk lid, shock absorbers, windshield wiper, rear bumper and BlackVue’s rear camera (lens and cable) were damaged. Thankfully, despite the damage the dash cam was still able to capture the whole incident and the culprit’s license plate numbers.
No note? No problem
That was important, because the truck’s driver didn’t feel the need to leave a note for the victim. They just left the scene, and the BlackVue user found his car destroyed. Upon checking the video evidence he sent it to his insurance company. The damages were completely covered by the truck driver’s insurance.
This user installed his dual camera BlackVue DR970X dash cam only a couple of months prior to the accident and it already paid for itself. On top of getting the main prize this week (brand new BlackVue dash cam), we will be replacing the damaged cables and the rear camera for this user as well!
