We don’t think anyone needs convincing that a dashcam is a necessity in today’s world. But what about a dashcam recording while your car is parked and the engine is off? Here’s BlackVue user David’s story.

Huge bus hits parked car

David’s 2014 RS5 was parked outside of an automotive shop, waiting for some minor work to be done. Suddenly, a huge tour bus appeared from behind David’s car and then tried to make a turn. Unfortunately, the driver misjudged the bus’ size and ended up hitting David’s vehicle. And what is even worse: they either didn’t notice that they hit somebody, or decided it’s best to just drive off.

No evidence if not for the dashcam

If not for the BlackVue dashcam recording in Parking Mode (he was using an older DR750S model – but you can get the newest DR750X-2CH Plus here, David would have no proof of what happened. But thanks to the footage he got, he was able to get the tour operator’s info as well as the bus’ license plate for the police report and the insurance claim. The damages were estimated at $14,000 – but thanks to the BlackVue dashcam David had peace of mind that everything will be handled for him.
