When we put our car in the hands of professionals – in a car repair shop, for example – we trust that they will take good care of our vehicle. Unfortunately, this is not always the case.
BlackVue user David sent us the video captured by his BlackVue DR900S-2CH dashcam (now upgraded to DR900X-2CH available here). He left his Jeep Grand Cherokee at the repair shop to repair or possibly replace the steering column. He actually forgot about the dashcam recording everything until later. Just out of curiosity, he checked the footage recorded by the dashcam once he picked up his car.
And to his horror, he saw the “methods” this seemingly reputable repair shop used while trying to… repair(?) the steering column. In the video you can clearly see that instead of using a steering wheel puller, they tried to beat the steering wheel into submission. And when that didn’t work out (we wonder why), the chief mechanic threw the entire column across the garage, grunting from the weight of it. The throw even broke off pieces of the blinker assembly.
David told us he confronted the management of the shop with the evidence – they adjusted the bill for the service, removing all the labor costs and only charging for the parts.
And you? Don’t leave your car in the hands of fate – be prepared and get your BlackVue dashcam here.
