Distracted driving is one of the major reasons for car accidents. In fact, almost 20% of injuries occurring in car accident crashes involve distracted driving (NHTSA).
BlackVue user Jim sent us his BlackVue dashcam footage, which captured a collision caused by distracted driving. Unfortunately, Jim was the one involved – a distracted driver didn’t watch the road ahead of him and rear-ended Jim’s vehicle at an intersection.
The damages to Jim’s car were significant, as they were estimated at around $5,000. Thankfully, Jim told us that the culprit was very polite and the incident was dealt with through his insurance company. The damages were covered in full by the other party’s insurance.
Not every rear-end accident ends as amiable as in this case. Had there been any problems, Jim always had the footage captured by the rear camera of his BlackVue dashcam, which provided clear evidence. Having a dashcam saves drivers thousands of dollars every year. For those situations, it’s best to be prepared with a dual channel BlackVue dashcam, such as the new BlackVue DR750X-2CH Plus.

*Note that the footage shown in this video is recorded by an older BlackVue model – rear camera recorded in HD resolution. Current models’ rear cameras record in fullHD.
